ObjectivesGREEN-VANETS aims to design and verify communication protocols for Car-2-X interaction scenarios. The goal is to decrease the fuel consumption in urban transportation. The efficiency of each protocol will be validated both with software simulation and with devices supporting Car-2-X communication. The investigation scenarios are: i) Vehicle-to-infrastructure communication, for identifying the optimal stations for charging e-vehicles ii) Vehicle-to-semaphore communication, for adapting the speed based on the time remaining until the color change of the semaphore iii) Vehicle-to-vehicle communication, in case of vehicle overtaking, with warning messages and requests for facilitating the overtaking The developed protocols will be aware that the devices in a Vehicular Ad-Hoc Network have energy constraints. Metrics will be defined to measure the effects of the communication Car-2-X on fuel consumption. The scientific objective is to improve fuel consumption using Car-2-X communication in different traffic conditions. Multi-agent systems will be enacted to design and verify the communication protocols. Justifying safeness is provided with formal verification of protocols and developing safety cases using the Goal Structuring Notation
