Currently, I am a professor at the Computer Science Department of the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca (TUCN), Romania.

Education

I have studied at the Faculty of Automation and Computer Science, TUCN, between 1997 and 2002. In 2002, I have graduated as a Diploma Engineer (equivalent with M.Sc) in Computer Science.

I have conducted my PhD research between 2002 and 2011, with the thesis title "Driving Environment Perception from Stereovision", under the supervision of Prof. Sergiu Nedevschi. In 2011, I received the PhD title in Computer Science, distinction magna cum laude.

Work experience

Since 2001, I'm a member of the Image Processing and Pattern Recognition Research Center (IPPRRC), where my main research topics are related to stereovision (calibration, matching, 3D reconstruction), and 3D environment perception for advanced driving assistance systems (road surface detection, curb detection, free space detection).

Also, in 2002, I have joined the Computer Science Department of TUCN, initially as a junior lecturer, lecturer, then senior lecturer, and nowadays associate professor. My main subjects for teaching are Computer Architecture (course and labs), Image Processing (labs/projects), and Pattern Recognition Systems (labs/projects).
